  • L-P Boycott to begin with Picket Line
By thatgreenunionguy | 2:01 AM UTC, Thu April 18, 1985

By staff - Mendocino Commentary, April 18, 1985

Comptche Citizens for a Safe Environment, with the consolidated backing of the Mendocino Greens, resolve to picket corporate offices of Louisiana-Pacific beginning April 23, 1985 at 6:30 AM.

The picket line will be removed when L-P agrees to a two-year moratorium on all aerial herbicide spraying in Mendocino County and, as an alternative, agrees to institute manual hardwood removal projects.

The group also endorses the AFL-CIO boycott of all L-P products. Further picketing of L-P products will be held on May 4 in behalf of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, and the IWA (International Woodworkers Association).

Leafleters are encouraged to be at the Mendo Mill in Fort Bragg, Ukiah, and Willits, as well as Yaeger & Kirk in Ukiah.

A spokesperson for the Mendocino Greens stated that this activity is not directed against the individual stores, but specifically at L-P products sold therein.
